Welcome to the Form section of the platform!
Let us tell you more about the section before we dive in how to create forms...π
You can open this section by selecting Content in the left menu of the platform and then Forms!
The Form section
You'll find four different tabs in this section:
Scheduled
Published
Draft
Expired
The "Published" tab
The published tab contains all current active forms. This means the form is linked to a page and the page is published.
The "Available" tab
Contains forms that are ready to be published. The form is ready to go live but the campaign isn't published yet.
The "Draft" tab
Here you can see the forms that are saved as draft.
The "Expired" tab
This shows the forms that are in an expired campaign.
The Create Form button
The "Create Form" button will allow you to create forms.
Speaking about this, let's dive in the steps to create a form!
Hit the button to get started. π
Step 1) Fill in form options
The first step to create a form is to fill in form options : what name do you want to give it, for which vendor is it, which campaign...
Form name
> First, give the form a title.
Type
> This is about the type of form you will create. The default form is a static form. It is just a "normal" form with fields and a button. Select interactive if the form you're creating has multiple steps.
π© If you choose interactive, for each added form field you need to choose a 'step'. This way it's possible to create a form with multiple steps.
It's required that the email address is in the first step. This is because after the first step, the contact is created. And the contact can't be created without email address.
Add limit to number of submissions
> It's possible to limit a form to a number of submissions. This can be used for a giveaway. There's only a certain number of items and you need to stop giving them away at a moment, right? That's possible thanks to this option.
It is also possible to set a limit message for when the limit is reached and the form is closed.
Campaign
> Set the campaign the form is linked to. This will determine available languages and what pages the form can be linked to. A form can only be placed on a landing page linked to the same campaign.
Congratulations, the first step is complete! Now it's time to click 'save as draft' at the bottom right of the page, and you will be redirected to the second step. ππΌ
Step 2) Add & edit your fields
To start adding a field, first you need to check if you're not editing one. If the orange button on the left says 'edit field' you need to click 'cancel'. If the button on the left says 'add field' you're good to go.
To edit a field, you'll need to click on the pencil icon next to the field you want to edit.
To create a field, you'll need to cancel editing a field. The left part of your screen should be blank, like this:
Field
> First you'll need to need to select a field you want to add. There are a lot of options in the field list, but if you need a custom field that's not in there, you'll need to add that in field management (explained in a different section).
Required
> This is to make the field a required field. A form can then not be submitted by the user without filling out this field.
Unique
> This is to make sure a certain field needs to be unique for this form. If you set this for the email field for instance, then this email address can be only used once. If a user tries to submit this form with an email that has been previously used, a message will pop up saying that a unique email is required.
Hide label
> Above or in front of a field the label for the field is shown. You can hide this label by checking this box. This can be very useful for form fields where a user must accept terms and conditions for example.
Dependent field
> Selecting dependent field will give you the options to set the form field this field is dependent on and for what value this dependent field is applicable.
Dependent on field displays a dropdown with all current available form fields. You can add a dependent field on a text field or a dropdown field.
π© In case of a text field the dependent field only shows up when the exact text is in the field.
Dependent values (optional) filling in the dependent value determines when this dependent field must show up. A dependent field can have the same options as any other form field.
Translating the button
> In the form edit page you don't have to translate the fields. This is done in field management. But because buttons aren't fields, they need to be translated here.
To add the button text, click the pencil icon that appears when you edit over the button.
You can then add translations for all the campaign languages as shown below β¬οΈ
Step 3) Add the responses to the form
The last step is adding all the responses. This for example contains the email that's sent to the new contact after they filled in the form, and also the message that they will see.
Contact mail
Enable contact mail
> Check this if you want an email to be sent to the contact after they filled in the form.
Subject
> This is the subject of the mail.
Attachment
> If you want to add an attachment to the mail you can add it here. This can only be one attachment! π
> In this section you can write the mail that's sent to the contact after they filled in the form.
This email can be written in all the languages of the campaign. You can use the provided variables at the bottom of the mail.
Response message
This is a text message that's displayed to the contact after submitting the form.
Redirect page
If you want the contact to be redirected to another page after filling in the form, this can be added here. Select the page you want the contact to be redirected to.
This can be useful if you have a thank you page for example.
Limit message
Only visible if your form has a limit
When using a limit on the form, a message can be displayed when the number of submissions is reached. To customize this message, you can set a limit message. The form on the landing page will be replaced by this text when the limit is met.
Happy with your form?
β Hit the save data button! It's hidden behind the actions button as shown right here. This extra step is here to avoid publishing a form accidentally!
Congrats! Your form is ready to be added to a page. π
